Web Design - Checking For Broken Links (Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004)

Do you ever find yourself manually going through your web pages to check for broken links? This is an obsolete, not to mention time-consuming way to repair broken links. To check a site for broken links, make sure that the site you want to work on is open in Dreamweaver.

  • Select Sites > Manage Sites, choose the site name from the Manage Sites dialog box, and click Done
  • Now, go back to the Site menu and choose Check Links Sitewide
  • The Link Checker panel opens at the bottom of the page under the Property Inspector
  • Here, filenames with broken links, pages, images, or other items display

This is great if you want to clean up old images or other elements you're no longer using on your site.
